STORYLINE:

During the funerals held on Monday for the victims of an Israeli airstrike on the Lebanese village of Mays al-Jabal, member of the parliament Melhem Khalaf called for restoring the principles of human rights and for protecting civilians during conflicts.

Four people were killed and three others injured on Sunday in the Israeli airstrike, Lebanese military sources told Xinhua.

Mays al-Jabal has been a regular target of the Israeli army since last year's October 7 "Al Aqsa Flood" Operation by Hamas. The village has suffered extensive damage.

SOUNDBITE (Arabic): MELHEM KHALAF, Member of Lebanese parliament 
"The Israelis should avoid targeting the civilian population, according to the international conventions. Any aggression against civilian targets is forbidden, particularly against children and women. This crime that is added to the register of the Israeli enemy must be a stark reminder to world leaders of Israel's nature. Words are not accepted anymore, as we are witnessing the failure of the international community in applying its decisions. We are asking for the enforcing of these decisions, otherwise, the rule of the jungle or the law of the strongest would prevail. Is that what is required? What is required today is clearly that we reach a moment where we regain the moral rule and the human principles and rights during any conflict."
