Terrified passengers were evacuated from a plane hit by a bomb scare at the Delhi Airport in India this morning.

The fliers had boarded the Airbus A320 operated by low-cost carrier Indigo but were alerted to the threat shortly before take off at 5:35 am local time.

Footage shows panic-stricken passengers climbing through the emergency exits onto the wing and using the inflatable slides to escape.

Officials said the aircraft has been moved to an isolation bay for investigation. Flight 6E2211 with the plane registered 9H-SLH was delayed at the Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport.

An airport worker told local media: 'A bomb threat was reported on an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Varanasi. The aircraft has been moved to an isolation bay for investigation. Aviation security and a bomb disposal team are currently on site.'

Delhi Fire Service said that a bomb threat had forced the evacuation.

A spokesman said that all the passengers were evacuated through the emergency door.

They added: 'All passengers are safe, flight is being inspected.'
