STORYLINE:

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum.

A former Egyptian ambassador to China has said that the forum and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) promote Arab-Chinese relations to a completely different level.

"The establishment of the forum and then the cooperation between the two sides within the framework of the BRI starting from 2013, these two factors together promoted Arab-Chinese relations to a completely different level.
This forum put relations on the right path. It now has regular meetings and mechanisms in almost all fields by bringing the two sides together.
The volume of trade and the volume of investment increased, and so did the number of Chinese companies in Arab countries that contributed to development projects.
The BRI gave a very great impetus to cooperation between Arab countries and China.
If we compare the situation twenty years ago and the situation now, there has been tremendous progress, very huge progress.
This progress will definitely continue because there is a political will between the two parties for this to continue."

China will host the 10th ministerial meeting of the forum on May 30 in Beijing.
