All trapped rescued but two dead in southern China's building collapse
All trapped individuals were rescued and sent to hospital after a two-storey building collapsed in southern China.
Video filmed in Longzhou County in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on May 31 shows firefighters searching and rescuing on site.
Tragically, two people succumbed to their injuries despite rescue efforts, while the other two are stable and receiving treatment.
Former tenant Zhang Mei, who had rented multiple rooms on the first floor of the collapsed building, revealed that the first floor belonged to the primary school, while the ground floor was owned by another entity.
Zhang, who had operated a store there for nearly four years, noted the building was decades old but showed no major issues apart from frequent leaks. Two months ago, the school reclaimed the first floor due to space shortages, prompting her to relocate her business.
The collapse occurred around noon, coinciding with the school's lunchtime dismissal. Zhang was unsure if any students were among the casualties.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation and managing the aftermath of the incident.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
