Despite the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Palestinian children still cling to hope, dreaming to return to their normal life in Gaza soon.
Since Oct. 7, 2023, the Israeli army has killed more than 36,200 Palestinians and wounded about 82,000 others in the Gaza Strip, with a significant number being children and women, according to the health authorities in Gaza.
A group of UN experts said in April that more than 80% of schools in Gaza had been damaged or destroyed, and at least 625,000 students had no access to education.
SOUNDBITE 1 (Arabic): IBRAHIM AL-ARABY, Gaza-based Palestinian child
"I was displaced from Beit Hanoun to a school in Deir al-Balah. We escaped from the Jews, death and tanks. My life here is acceptable, but it is not the same as it was at home. More than 45 people are living in one tent."
SOUNDBITE 2 (Arabic): JAMAL ABU EISHA, Gaza-based Palestinian child
"When we escaped from Sabra, we had to flee so as not to die. I hope that the war will stop, that the killing in Gaza will end, and that we will return to our homes."
