France: Citizen Activist Vandalizes Ministry of Agriculture in Protest Against Agricultural Law
Paris, France - May 29, 2024
May 29 - A citizen engaged with the "Riposte Alimentaire" movement splattered orange paint across the facade of the Ministry of Agriculture.
In a statement, the activist declared, "Yesterday, the Assembly passed the Agricultural Orientation Law! It will further destroy our agriculture, pollute our water, soil, and jeopardize our health. Our lives are increasingly threatened because they are in the hands of a small elite willing to do anything for profit."
This action aims to denounce the Agricultural Orientation Law, several articles of which are deemed ecocidal and criminal. Article 1 prioritizes the right to produce over the right to a healthy environment and equitable resource distribution.
Article 13 decriminalizes offenses against species and natural habitats, while Article 15 expedites administrative disputes regarding water retention projects or livestock farming, including mega-reservoirs and factory farms.
Riposte Alimentaire demands a radical alternative to current agricultural and food models through the establishment of Food Security Social Security (SSA), modeled after the 1946 Social Security system.
