Tour guide attacks driver on motorway over poor sales performance
On May 13 in Zhangjiajie, a famous sightseeing city in southern China, a tour guide attacked a coach driver on a motorway due to poor sales performance, an incident that has drawn widespread condemnation.
The incident occurred on May 13 when a coach filled with tourists was travelling on the motorway. Tour guide Qing Mouxin was promoting products to the passengers, but received little interest. Frustrated by the lack of sales and the driver taking a wrong turn, the guide lost control and attacked the driver.
Video footage shows Qing suddenly kicking the driver three times, with the third kick landing directly on the driver's head. Despite the assault, the driver remained calm and continued to drive, while other passengers intervened to stop the violent behaviour.
Following the attack, the driver reported the incident to the police. Qing offered to settle the matter with a payment of 3,000 yuan, which the driver reluctantly accepted due to being unfamiliar with the local area. However, when the driver later felt unwell and tried to contact Qing, he received no response.
The owner of the coach, upon learning of the incident, was outraged and also reported it to the police. He stated that Qing's actions not only harmed the driver but also endangered the safety of all passengers, and could not be resolved merely with financial compensation. "This is not just about money; it is about the safety of everyone on the coach," he said.
The Yongding branch of the Zhangjiajie Public Security Bureau quickly launched an investigation and apprehended Qing on May 30. Qing has been criminally detained on suspicion of endangering safe driving, and the case is under further investigation.
The video was provided with permission from local media.
