STORYLINE:

A number of American high school and university students, along with their teachers, have been invited to north China's Hebei Province for educational exchanges recently.

During their visit, they engaged in extensive dialogues and activities with Chinese students and educators, fostering a deeper mutual understanding between the two nations.

These exchanges have highlighted various perspectives on the importance of people-to-people connections between China and the United States.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): CAROL HUMPHREYS, President of Sofia University, the U.S.
"I think it's so important, as a psychologist, I think that the human connection is most important. And the more I come to visit China, the more you come to visit the United States, we get to know the other. And we understand that we are more alike than we are just dissimilar. So I hope with more visits, cross cultural exchanges that we will have better relationships. I think there we have so much potential to do great good in the world. And I hope that for both countries working together."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): JORDAN AUSTIN, Student from University of Central Missouri, the U.S.
"I think that educational exchanges like this one that I'm a part of, are very important because I've learned so many things here that I wouldn't be able to learn back in America. And seeing the culture, it's one thing to learn about it in the classroom, but it's another thing to experience it and live it with people here and get to meet them in that way."

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): JESSICA GOGERTY, Director of Advanced Learning for Des Moines Public Schools, the U.S.
"You will get a chance to learn a new culture. You'll get a chance to share your culture and make some friendships that could last a very long time. We can build a better world together."
