USA: Coast Guard Helicopter Rescues Injured Hikers and Dog in Deschutes National Forest

DESCHUTES NATIONAL FOREST, OR - A daring rescue mission unfolded on June 16, 2024, as an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from the Coast Guard swooped in to save two hikers and their dog in distress.
The operation was prompted by a hiker's reported knee injury within the rugged terrain of Deschutes National Forest. Responders swiftly airlifted the survivors to safety, transporting them to Redmond Municipal Airport where awaiting emergency medical services ensured their well-being.
Despite the challenging conditions, the rescue operation proceeded smoothly, underscoring the Coast Guard's readiness and expertise in remote wilderness rescues. The injured hiker and their companion, along with their canine companion, were reported to be in stable condition upon arrival at the airport.
