Residents call the cops on two women kissing in park in China
This is the moment two women bathers were rounded up using fishing nets after they were spotted kissing by angry locals.
The incident happened in the city of Guangzhou, which is the capital of Guangdong province in southern China, on June 10.
According to local media, there was a large crowd of locals at the Yuexiu Park area because a Dragon Boat Festival was about to take place when the two women decided to take a dip and were spotted kissing each other.
In the video, a person in a boat was seen grabbing one of them by the head in a fishing net and eventually, they left the water when a police officer arrived and the pair were detained.
Officials said that the two were then sent to a hospital, although it was not revealed why they were sent there. It was also revealed that they were apparently not locals, although their nationality was not revealed.
A spokesman for the management at Yuexiu Park confirmed that they had called the police when they heard about what was going on.
They said: 'We dealt with it as soon as we found out and have sent the patients to hospital.'
LGBT rights in China remain less than those of the developed world.
