US: June Snow Closes Road to Artist Point
Washington, USA - June 20, 2024.
In a surprising turn of weather events, snowfall at the end of June has delayed the reopening of State Route 542, the scenic road leading to Artist Point. Washington State Department of Transportation North Division (WSDOT North) announced that despite efforts to clear the roadway, crews are currently tackling the final stretch of snow removal from the parking lot.
Originally scheduled to reopen at 8 AM on June 21, the route to Artist Point remains closed temporarily due to the unanticipated snow accumulation. The closure has prompted crews to intensify their efforts in clearing operations to ensure safe passage for motorists eager to access the popular scenic spot.
"We're working diligently to clear the remaining snow and make the road accessible again," affirmed WSDOT North in their update.
