Kaithal district is considered a leader in paddy cultivation, hence Kaithal district is also called the rice bowl. Paddy planting is in full swing these days in Kaithal district. Almost all the farmers of Kaithal district cultivate paddy. Basmati and other varieties of rice here are very famous in the country and abroad due to their unique sweetness and length.Due to the groundwater level going down significantly in many areas of Haryana, the Haryana government bans paddy transplantation till June 15, but after June 15, the farmers here plant paddy in full swing. Every year, a large number of laborers from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar reach Kaithal district for paddy transplantation.This time, due to the scorching heat, farmers started planting paddy slowly at first, but after the temperature dropped slightly due to rain in many areas of the state for the last three-four days, they started planting paddy vigorously. According to the Agriculture Department, paddy is to be planted in four lakh 50 thousand acres of land in Kaithal district and some farmers have already sown the paddy through direct sowing and DSR method.Farmers are praying to God to bless them so that due to the rains, a good crop of paddy can be grown in their fields.
Farmers Gurmohinder Singh, Ranjot Singh and Nirved Singh of Kaithal district said that Kaithal district is considered the hub of paddy cultivation. He said that the farmers here are very interested in paddy cultivation.He said that Basmati and other varieties of rice grown in the fields of Kaithal district are very much liked in the country and abroad. That is why Kaithal district is called the rice bowl. He said that a large number of laborers from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and many other states of the country arrive before the time of paddy transplantation for the farmers of Kaithal district to plant Basmati and other varieties of paddy.He said that the farmers are very happy with the increase in the MSP of paddy by the government and they thank the government.
A female laborer who transplants paddy in the fields said that all the members of my family come to the fields from morning to evening and plant paddy, which earns them good income. He said that he gets Rs 4,000 per acre from paddy plantation, with which he is very happy.DDA Balwant Saharan, Deputy Director of Agriculture Department of Kaithal district, said that Kaithal district is very famous in paddy cultivation and the Basmati and other varieties of paddy grown in the fields here are considered to be of good quality, hence here Basmati and other varieties of rice are in great demand in the country and abroad and a lot of rice is exported from here, he said that this year paddy crop will be planted in four lakh 50 thousand acres of land in Kaithal district. He said that the Agriculture Department is also helping farmers cultivate paddy through DSR method.
