A routine call for a bush fire turned into a rescue mission when Sergeant Time Daly of North Kingstown Police Department found a wheelchair-bound woman trapped inside a house.

Footage shows the officer rushing into the property and wheeling out the disabled resident with his colleagues in Rhode Island on July 2.

Sergeant Tim said to his colleagues 'someone is in the house, guys' before he pulled her out with assistance from fellow police.

He said: 'I had to get her out of there. If she had been further inside, it would have been a tough call.

'I've been fortunate to learn from good leaders who taught us how to handle these situations.'

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she is recovering from smoke inhalation.
