Thirupathi, a resident of Othakadai in Madurai district, runs an oil shop. A few years ago, he found some baby squirrels that had fallen from a tree near his shop and took them in, feeding them and caring for them. The squirrel babies have now grown up and follow him everywhere, even climbing onto his shoulders. When he calls out "Ditchu", the squirrels jump into his arms and sit on his shoulders. Despite his busy schedule, Thirupathi prioritizes the squirrels' needs, even feeding them before his own family members. He says that he has more affection for the squirrels than his own children and that he cannot bear to leave them behind, even for a moment. He has become so attached to the puppies that he has stopped going out of town for fear of leaving them behind."
