The Ventura County Fire Department is actively combating a brush fire that ignited near the hills in the 2800 block of Sharp Road at 1:45 p.m. on July 3, 2024. As of the latest update, the fire has consumed approximately 133 acres, but firefighting crews and aircraft have made significant strides in containment efforts.

At 6:15 p.m. on July 3, 2024, authorities lifted the Evacuation Order for residents along Ditch Road and also rescinded the Evacuation Warning for residents between Erringer and Lost Canyon Drive. All road closures have been reopened, and the Temporary Evacuation Point is no longer active. However, the public is urged to avoid the area to facilitate ongoing firefighting operations.

Additionally, Ventura County Sheriff’s Emergency Services, in collaboration with Ventura County Public Health, is closely monitoring a prolonged excessive heat event impacting the region. Excessive Heat Warnings are currently in effect from 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, through Monday, July 8, 2024, excluding coastal areas. Areas of particular concern include interior and mountainous regions, along with various communities such as Ojai, Fillmore, Simi Valley, and Thousand Oaks.
