Rescue operations many missing in Chitwan after landslide sweeps two buses into river in Nepal

On July 12, Friday The Nepali Army and other rescue teams aboard a lifeboat, conducting a rescue operation for passengers swept away in the accident. According to officials, Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Indradev Yadav, confirmed the incident.

According to Yadav, the Kathmandu-bound Angel bus and Ganpati Deluxe, en route to Gaur from the Capital, met with the accident at around 3:30 am. Police authorities have confirmed that there were 24 people on the bus heading to Kathmandu and 41 on the bus en route to Gaur. Three passengers from the Ganpati Deluxe bus escaped by jumping out of the vehicle.

Additionally, it has been reported that 21 passengers were traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu on the Angel Deluxe bus.
Reportedly, Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal stated, “I am deeply saddened by the reports of about five dozen passengers that are missing when the bus was washed away by a landslide on the Narayangadh- Muglin road section and the loss of properties due to floods and landslides in different parts of the country. I direct all agencies of the government, including the home administration, to search and effectively rescue the passengers.”

The Nepali Army troops and other officials are engaged in search operation for the bus involved in the accident while they are simultaneously rescuing the people involved in the accident.

According to the ministry, the government has now imposed a ban on passenger buses travelling at night in the areas where weather warnings are posted.
