Cyclist almost flattened by train as he rides through crossing barriers
This is the miraculous moment a cyclist pedals through railway crossing barriers into the path of a train but survives after being knocked to the ground.
The biker had ignored the lowered barriers and warning signs and cycled straight onto the tracks in Oud-Heverlee, in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant on Thursday, July 11.
But as his front wheel rolls onto the track a passenger train races through unable to stop in time, knocking him and his bike flying.
CCTV footage of the crash shows him being twisted sideways by the impact as the train hits the front wheel of his bike.
Moments later he is seen hobbling back to the tracks clutching his right leg as he gathers up the shattered remains of his cycle as the clip ends, with the train seen stopped on the tracks.
Local media reports said that train traffic between Waver and Sint-Joris-Weert was disrupted by the crash.
Paramedics treated the unnamed cyclist at the scene but it is unclear if he needed hospital treatment.
