Train crashes into white van stuck on level crossing in Poland
This is the dramatic moment a train crashed into a white van stuck on a level crossing in Poland.
CCTV footage shows the white Opel container van crossing the crossing point as boom gates began lowering on both sides in Wola Filipowska, Krakow County on August 1.
One barrier slowly descended, giving the driver enough time to clear the tracks.
However, instead of moving forward, the driver reversed back and then moved forward again.
The driver then attempted to edge the vehicle as far to the side as possible, seemingly trying to avoid an oncoming train.
Moments later, the speeding passenger train traveling from Swinoujscie to Krakow collided with the van.
The impact caused significant damage to the side and rear of the vehicle.
Police confirmed that neither the driver nor any passengers on the train were injured, and no medical treatment was necessary.
The incident is currently under investigation by the prosecutor's office.
Authorities urged drivers never to enter railway crossings when warning lights are flashing or barriers are descending, emphasizing that trains cannot stop suddenly, with braking distances exceeding one kilometre.
Motorists were also advised that if their vehicle becomes trapped between barriers, they should push through them if necessary to escape, which will trigger an emergency mechanism allowing for a safe exit.
