Two panda bears from China will make their public debut in at Sand Diego Zoo in California.

Footage shows the bears Yun Chuan and Xin Bao wandering around their shelter at the zoo weeks before they would be introduced to visitors on August 8.

The pandas mark the first of their species to arrive in the US in more than two decades.

Paul Baribault, President and CEO of San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, said: 'We are thrilled to introduce Yun Chuan and Xin Bao to our San Diego Zoo community.

'Their presence not only brings joy to our visitors but also underscores our commitment to international conservation efforts. Through collaborations with our partners, we continue to advance efforts towards a sustainable future for these iconic animals.'

Yun Chuan, nearly five years old, is distinguished by his elongated nose, while Xin Bao, almost four, is known for her round face and distinctive fluffy ears.

They arrived in late June, and have been adjusting to their new home in the enhanced Panda Ridge.

Their enclosure was inspired by China's renowned landscapes and features expansive areas for climbing and exploration, complemented by native flora and rolling hills.
