North China's Tianjin Municipality is home to several laboratories for the research and development of areas, including human-machine interaction technology, high-yield crop agriculture and fire-resistant construction materials.

At the Brain-Computer Interaction and Human-Machine Integration lab, scientists are testing brain electrode caps, which allow people to control a computer using their minds.

Other technology, like a wearable exoskeleton device, is being developed to be used by people with physical disabilities.
