Duck swallowed by pelican in Chinese zoo rescued by staff
On May 4, 2024, at a zoo in Xi'an, located in northwestern China's Shaanxi Province, a dramatic rescue unfolded when a pelican, with its large bill, swallowed a small yellow duck.
The grey and white pelican was momentarily unobserved by zookeepers when it attempted this bold act.
After being alerted by tourists, the staff member quickly intervened, prying open the pelican's mouth to carefully extract the duck. Fortunately, the duck emerged unharmed and was seen energetically hopping away after the incident.
