STORYLINE:
A total of 11 people were killed, and nine others injured in a traffic accident Monday morning in Senegal's northwestern region of Louga, reported the Senegalese News Agency (APS), citing security sources.
The accident occurred after a collision between a truck and a minibus at around 10 a.m., local time, in the Kebemer Department, Louga Region, according to the APS.
"The head-on collision between the two vehicles was particularly violent, resulting in the death of 11 people. Among the nine injured, eight are in serious condition," said the report, adding that all the injured were evacuated to health centers to receive the necessary care.
An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, the report said.
