A digger was used to rescue motorists after their car was stranded in a raging river in south-western China.

The video was filmed in Chamdo City, in the Tibet Autonomous Region, on August 4.

A 4x4 vehicle attempting to navigate the treacherous waters was ensnared by the strong current and complex riverbed, stranding its four passengers.

Reacting swiftly to the impending peril, the four people clambered onto the roof of their vehicle, seeking refuge from the rising waters. Their desperate calls for help were soon heard, and they managed to alert authorities to their dire situation.

The Meyu Township government responded with remarkable speed and efficiency, launching an emergency rescue operation. Heavy machinery, including excavators, was dispatched to the scene.

Rescuers utilised the machines to execute the daring retrieval.

After an intense and coordinated effort, all four tourists were brought to safety, and the vehicle was recovered from the driver.

The tourists, while shaken, were found to be in good health. However, the 4x4 sustained significant damage.
