Baikonur, Kazakhstan - August 14, 2024

The unpiloted Roscosmos Progress 89 spacecraft embarked on its journey to the International Space Station (ISS) following a successful launch at 11:20 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, August 14 (8:20 a.m. Baikonur time, Thursday, August 15). Lifted into orbit by a Soyuz rocket, the spacecraft is now on course for a crucial rendezvous with the orbiting laboratory.

After a scheduled two-day journey, Progress 89 is set to autonomously dock with the ISS's Zvezda Service module's aft port at 1:56 a.m. on Saturday, August 17. This docking will mark a critical moment as the spacecraft delivers essential supplies weighing approximately three tons, including food, fuel, and various supplies crucial for the station's operations and crew members.

NASA's coverage of the rendezvous and docking process will commence at 1 a.m. and will be accessible on NASA+, NASA Television, the NASA app, YouTube, and the agency’s official website. This mission highlights ongoing international cooperation in space exploration, ensuring the continued success and sustainability of operations aboard the ISS.
