Tu-22M3 bomber crashes in Irkutsk Region; no injuries reported
On August 15, 2024, a Tu-22M3 bomber crashed in the Irkutsk region of Russia, according to the Defense Ministry. The aircraft went down in an uninhabited area, causing no damage on the ground. The crew ejected safely and are reported to be unharmed. Preliminary reports suggest that a technical malfunction was the cause of the crash. The Tu-22M3, a modernized version of the Tu-22M2, is designed for high-speed, long-range missions with advanced combat and defensive capabilities.
