United States: Newhall Homicide Investigation
Los Angeles, United States - August 16, 2024
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a call for a gunshot wound around 8:21 p.m. Friday evening at The Village Apartment Homes in the 23700 block of Valle del Oro in the Newhall community of Santa Clarita.
Fire department personnel arrived at the scene and found a victim laying in the middle of the roadway at Villa Canon and Via Estrella within the apartment complex and immediately performed CPR.
The victim was unconscious and not breathing. Deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department requested additional units for crowd control.
It is currently unknown if the victim was targeted as there have been multiple shootings in the past at the same location. However, initial information indicates at this time, that the cause of death has not yet been confirmed by the LASD, even though the initial call was for a gunshot wound.
Further information regarding this homicide is expected to be released by LASD's Newhall Station. This report will be updated at that time.
