Giant monitor lizards wrestle in pond
Two giant monitor lizards wrestled in a pond during a rainstorm.
Supanee Jutamart witnessed the intense brawl between the reptiles in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand, on August 16.
Footage shows the animals grappling with each other in the water, with both seen slamming their opponents.
Supanee said: 'It's like watching Godzilla, but on a budget version.'
Monitor lizards engage in fights for several reasons. They are territorial animals, and males often fight to establish dominance and claim their territory.
They also fight during mating season to compete for females. These fights help determine which male is stronger and more suitable for mating.
