A fisherman was shocked after they found a stone Buddha head by a river in Luoyang, Henan Province.

Mr Ma said he and his friends were fishing by the Yi River around 1km from the Longmen Grottoes, a system of caves that contain 110,000 Buddhist stone statues dating back to the 5th century.

After finding the head weighing 30kg and 60cm-long, Ma rang the police. The authorities handed it to the Longmen Grottoes Research Institute for further identification and research.

马先生意识到这可能是一件珍贵的文物，他没有私自处理，而是立即报警。
当地警方迅速赶到现场，并将佛头接收。随后，佛头被送往龙门石窟研究院进行进一步的鉴定和研究。

The local police rushed to the scene quickly and took over the Buddha head. Subsequently, the Buddha head was sent to the Longmen Grottoes Research Institute for further identification and research.
