4K - STARLINK SATELLITE TRAIN G8-10 flying over swiss Alps again, 2 days after launch. - Camera test
This Starlink satellite train G8-10 is seen flying across the sky in the swiss Alps again , 2 days after launch. The satellites have gained quite some distance now compared to a day earlier. They fly around Earth in 1.5 hours and are seen when sunlit against a dark sky. At the start of the video you can see them exit from Earth's shadow and suddenly become visible.
They were at mag. 3.0 according to heavens-above.com
this was around 05:35 AM in Switzerland on monday september 2nd 2024
For this time I tried shooting video with a Canon EOS R5C Cinema camera to see how it goes in extreme low light. Normally I use Canon EOS R6 and R8 , AND the best in extreme low light is Sony A7S, A7S2, A7SIII, in my experience.
this is dark, best seen on large screen in dark room.
Starlink G8-10 train on 2nd day in Switzerland early morning Sept. 2nd, 2024
Shadow exit and flying NW to NE.
This is testing with
Camera Canon EOS R5C
4K 422 10bit HEVC
ISO 25600
25 fps
1/25 sec ( contrary to R5, R6, R8 , no fps override possible in R5C realtime video )
WB 4000K
base ISO 1600
EOS NEUTRAL profile
handheld with digital IS standard turned ON
lens : LAOWA RF 35mm 0.95 ultrafast wide lens.
wide open
during shooting also changing ISO to see how it improves image quality.
Original file was 2.5 GB. ... after encoding it in Vegas Pro 19 it would downsize it 528 MB in AVC , 492 MB in HEVC .
when I tried to edit , brighten the original footage it would result in bad image quality. So I left it untouched, original file after encoding.
will try soon with other settings and / or other camera. I'm such a geek ! :-)
