Canada: Brampton Teen Turns Herself In After Dramatic Porsche Theft and Assault in Mississauga
Mississauga, Canada - September 06, 2024
In a shocking turn of events that unfolded on the streets of Mississauga, an 18-year-old woman from Brampton, identified as Sarah Badshaw, has been arrested following a high-stakes car theft that left the owner injured. The incident, which commenced on September 6, 2024, near the intersection of Winston Churchill and Eglinton Avenue, involved a 2022 Porsche Cayenne, the victim's prized possession.
According to police reports, Badshaw responded to an advertisement on Auto Trader, where the victim was attempting to sell his luxury vehicle. Under the guise of a potential buyer, she attended the viewing but her intentions were far from innocent. In a daring move, Badshaw abruptly reversed the Porsche, crashing into the seller and fleeing the scene with the stolen car, leaving the victim with injuries.
The audacious theft shocked the local community and spurred a city-wide manhunt. The suspect was described as a South Asian female, standing approximately 5'5", with a thin build, and wearing clothing that would soon become key identifiers in the police investigation.
It wasn't until September 19, 2024, that the case saw a significant breakthrough when Sarah Badshaw turned herself in to the authorities. She was promptly detained and held in custody, facing her first court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton the following day.
Badshaw faces a slew of serious charges, including Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, and Failing to Remain at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm, under the Criminal Code. Additionally, she was charged with Driving Without a Licence under the Highway Traffic Act, reflecting her disregard for legal road conduct.
Authorities disclosed that this was not Badshaw's first brush with the law. She has previous convictions related to fraud in Peel Region and is wanted by other Greater Toronto Area police services for unrelated matters, indicating a pattern of criminal behavior.
The Peel Regional Police's 11 Division Auto Theft Unit continues to investigate the incident, with expectations of further arrests and charges as they delve deeper into Badshaw's network and activities.
