Teen in bedsheet mask steals TV from laundromat before dad hands him over to cops
This is the dramatic moment two teenagers disguised in bedsheets with holes cut for their eyes stole a television from a laundromat - before one of them was turned in to the police by his father.
CCTV footage from the 24-hour self-service laundry in downtown Porto Seguro, Bahia, Brazil, shows the pair roaming around with sheets draped over their bodies and faces.
One of them struggles to remove a TV from the wall while the other waits outside.
The bizarre heist took place at around 3:20 am on Monday, August 11.
Police said the suspect, 17, was brought to the station by his dad two days later, after investigators identified him through security footage and background checks.
The teenager reportedly admitted to trading the stolen television for drugs. He was questioned, and a detailed theft report was filed.
As he was no longer within the window for being caught in the act, he was released after giving a statement.
The youth told investigators that his accomplice, known as 'Gaita', remains at large.
Authorities added that the suspect has a history of thefts in Porto Seguro and Eunapolis, and had previously been held in Salvador.
The investigation remains open as officers continue to take statements and search for the second suspect.
