Heavy Rain Causes Major Flooding Across South London, Disrupting Commute
Floodwaters surged outside Colliers Wood tube station in South London early this morning, following a night of relentless rain. The video, filmed at around 4 a.m. by Lee Johnson, captures the flooding caused by heavy downpours that have inundated large parts of southern England.
London and much of the southeast are grappling with the aftermath of days of near-record rainfall. The impact has been widespread, with town centres underwater and schools closing in some areas. Commuters are facing major disruptions today, with several key underground lines, including the Metropolitan, Piccadilly, and District lines, affected by the flooding.
The situation is equally dire outside the capital, where towns like Dunstable in Bedfordshire and Hitchin in Hertfordshire are seeing severe flooding. Residents in many areas have been evacuated as water levels continue to rise, with more rain forecasted in the coming days.
