A Philippine Airlines Boeing 777 received a water salute for its first flight to Seattle.

Footage shows the Philippines' flag carrier RP-C7778 arriving at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport as two trucks sprayed an arch over it in Washington on October 3.

Three weekly nonstop flights with the PR124 code from Manila to Seattle are now departing every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

Port of Seattle commissioner Sam Cho said: ‘After years of collaboration with PAL and our Filipino partners, we're truly excited to welcome this new route to our airport and community.

‘As a vital gateway to Asia, this destination is especially meaningful for many Filipino Americans in the Northwest.

‘It not only makes it easier for families to connect and reunite but also opens up wonderful opportunities to strengthen our business and tourism ties with the Philippines.

‘Together, we're building a bridge that brings us closer, both personally and professionally.'

A water salute is a ceremonial gesture often used in aviation to celebrate significant events such as a plane's inaugural flight, a pilot's retirement, or the last flight of an aircraft.
