STORYLINE:

The past year of conflict in Gaza has seen a growing number of Palestinian families left shattered by Israeli attacks.

"The army bombed the house where four people lived: the parents, Misk, and Hanan. The apartment was targeted on Sept. 3 with two missiles that came at each other during the humanitarian truce. Hours before, the two girls were vaccinated against polio. Their feet were amputated. The two girls are starting to realize what is happening around them. And I don't know what to answer when they ask about their mother. I don't know if I will be able to take care of them in the future because of the bad psychological state they will be living in."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Arabic): DIMA AQEL, Palestinian citizen
"I suffer from severe wounds in my feet, but due to the lack of medical treatment, my feet began to rot. Due to the lack of medical treatment, I lost my father, mother, aunt, and little brother, although his condition was (originally) better than mine. I have been in the hospital for a month and my condition is difficult and most of the operations that were performed on me were without anesthesia."
