Purple houndfish spotted near the shore in China
On August 23, 2024, in Lingshui, located in southern China’s Hainan province, a filmer captured a fascinating sea creature near the coast.
In the crystal-clear water, a long, purple fish resembling a floating ribbon could be seen drifting near the surface.
When the filmer attempted to lift it using a pair of tongs, the fish began thrashing wildly, revealing its unique body shape with a long, sharp snout. Identified as a Houndfish (Tylosurus crocodilus crocodilus), this species is known for its sharp teeth and can bite if provoked.
