STORYLINE:

Andrija Karafilipovic, president of the Croatia-China Friendship Association (CCFA), has emphasized the need for continuous renewal of the relationship between Croatia and China.

He likened CCFA's efforts to foster bilateral ties for over 30 years to efforts to nurture a flower.

"The association is over 30 years old. During my time promoting it, the most important events have been our lectures by ambassadors of the People's Republic of China, who traveled with me across Croatia, sometimes visiting 10 to 15 cities during their tenure.
Through these lectures, we connected students, citizens, and the broader community, allowing them to learn about China.
They eagerly anticipated the lectures and often asked when the next one would be.
In the past five years, we have focused on promoting China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative. Just two months ago, we hosted the Belt and Road Initiative exhibition in the city of Zabok (near Zagreb).
We also organized an exhibition on Chinese proverbs by various philosophers and delivered a lecture titled 'China: A Country We Do Not Know.'
As I often say at the exhibition or when I talk with politicians, friendship is like a flower, a rose that needs to be constantly watered. Our friendship with China must be continuously renewed, and we must build new relationships along the way."
