Paris suburb: The kidnapping alert, launched this Tuesday morning after the disappearance of a 17-day-old newborn, has been lifted. The infant has not yet been found. He was kidnapped from the maternity ward of the Robert Ballanger hospital in Seine-Saint-Denis, the suspects are his parents. They would have gone to Belgium.
The Bobigny public prosecutor's office has decided to put an end to the kidnapping alert, triggered this Tuesday morning by the Ministry of Justice after the disappearance of Santiago. The 17-day-old infant is still being sought. He was taken this Monday evening from the maternity ward of the Robert Ballanger hospital in Aulnay-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis). Extremely premature, he requires "constant medical care", warns the Ministry of Justice. Doctors estimate that his life expectancy is around twelve hours without treatment.
Both parents of the infant are suspected of having kidnapped him. Hospital surveillance cameras show them leaving the scene with a shopping bag, in which they are suspected of having hidden the baby. The couple then left for Belgium. The police believe they have spotted the car in which the parents left the hospital. French justice therefore requested help from the Belgian authorities.
