Girl has arm stuck in swimming pool filter in every parent's nightmare
This is the dramatic moment a girl with her arm stuck in a pool filter for two hours was rescued in Thailand.
The youngster had been swimming with her family when she put her hand into the drainage pipe at a housing estate in Chonburi on November 3. She started crying after finding she was stuck due to the filter's powerful suction.
Sriracha rescue volunteers arrived with tools after receiving a report at 5:30 pm.
They said the rescue was difficult as the water first had to be drained before they could start drilling the concrete around the pipe.
Footage shows the team pumping water from the pool as locals scooped more out using plastic buckets. The girl's father comforted her while rescuers drilled and cut through the PVC pipe.
The child was taken to a hospital after a grueling two hours.
Onlooker Pramarn Sangwiroon, 60, claimed he saw the girl stick her arm into the 1.5in-diametre pipe.
He said: 'Village officers and local residents helped reduce the water level so that the rescuers could work more conveniently. The rescue proceeded more smoothly thanks to their efforts.'
Authorities believe the incident occurred because the pool filter lacked a cover.
On August 7 last year, a Chinese girl, 6, had her arm sucked into a recirculation pipe at the Baan Nern Khao Resort in Pattaya, Thailand.
Sawang Boriboon rescue volunteers spent around three hours rescuing her.
While on March 23, Aliyah Jaico, 8, drowned after she was pulled into a large pipe for a lazy river at a hotel in Houston, Texas. She had disappeared and was found dead in the pool area six hours later.
