This is the epic moment a humpback whale put on a show for excited restaurant guests by breaching out of the sea multiple times.

Anneri Louw, her husband and two friends were enjoying the Hermanus whale festival in South Africa at the end of September when they sat down for dinner.

Incredible footage shows a humpback whale suddenly roar out of the ocean before repeating the trick five more times as the stunned crowd cheered from the land.

Anneri said: “Out of the four of us, we had never seen a whale breach in person before. I have only seen it on National Geographic.

“My friend was giggling with excitement, my husband was awestruck, we were in shock a few moments later because we couldn’t believe that we almost missed it.

“I was blown away by the experience. It truly felt like a once in a lifetime experience. I love our beautiful country.

“We almost went to another restaurant where we would have missed the whole thing!

“Hermanus is one of the best places in the world for land-based whale watching, so it's the perfect spot for this festival.

“We were incredibly lucky to spot a few whales casually lounging in the water during our stay.

“We saw some activity in the distance, but it was pretty far off. Then, out of nowhere, the first massive, majestic whale leaped out of the water three times in a breathtaking breach.

“People were shouting, rushing to the coastline to witness the spectacle, and cars even stopped in the middle of the road.

“Just when we thought the show was over, 10-15 minutes later, the second whale began breaching too. It really felt like they were putting on a performance.”
