This is the bizarre moment a flock of drunk chickens staggered around their coop after a boozy bender, gobbling up wine sediments.

The footage, captured on a family farm in Liuzhou, Guangxi province, China, shows the broody birds nursing massive hangovers as they recover three days after their session.

Some can walk gingerly around the farm but keep bumping into things and getting trapped in corners.

Others, however, are still so drunk they can barely stand.

One seems dead until the owner, Ms Wei, gently shakes its head and opens a bleary eye.

Another tries to stand up with its ruffled feathers askew but collapses, still dreadfully drunk, after a couple of steps.

Even when Wei gives their heads a dunking with cold water, they still seem out for the count.

It emerged that the blotto birds had been fed on lees, the highly alcoholic residue left behind by fermented yeast during winemaking.

Wei says that while some of the 20-strong flock were fine after a day, three of the birds were unconscious for three days and were feared dead before they began to stir again.
