Father carrying child dragged by train before station guards save them
A father carrying his child was dragged by a moving train before station guards rushed to rescue them.
CCTV footage shows two men, one carrying a toddler, running to catch a locomotive at Prayagraj Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh, India, on Sunday.
The man wearing long sleeves passed the child to his companion before trying to board the train.
Moments later, the other commuter, wearing a polo, fell into the train door and was dragged along the platform with the kid in his arms.
Onlookers and Railway Protection Force personnel hurried to assist the distressed passenger. No injuries were reported and staff reminded train users to follow rules on the platform bannging them from boarding moving carriages.
Last year, a mother and her young son narrowly avoided falling under a moving train in Gaya, Bihar.
The commuters were rushing to board the locomotive when the mother, who was holding her child, slipped as she attempted to enter the Gaya-Patliputra Express.
A patrolling emergency responder immediately rushed to help the distressed pair as they lay dangerously close to the moving vehicle.
Most train accidents in India happen due to overcrowded platforms and passengers attempting to board or disembark from moving trains.
The lack of safety barriers, poor maintenance, and limited enforcement of railway rules further increase the risk of such incidents.
Despite government efforts to upgrade infrastructure and promote safer practices, accidents remain common across the country's vast rail network.
