SOUNDBITE (Spanish): VICTOR OTAZU, Agriculturist, International Potato Center
"Although Peru is one of the countries of origin for potatoes, we have also encountered some problems and challenges in recent years, such as climate change, pest harm, and so on. When we were in difficulties, China helped us and provided us with a lot of new technologies so that farmers could cope with these challenges.
Peru has great potential regarding its genetic diversity of crops. It can work well with China's strengths in agricultural technology and the processing of agricultural products. I hope China and Peru can open the door to more cooperation and bring more benefits to the two peoples."
Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Lima.
