A drunk British tourist was allegedly attacked by two Thai drivers for punching them and damaging their car.

The holidaymaker, estimated to be between 55 and 65 years old, was said to have been drunk at a bar when the locals offered to give him a ride to the Jomtien area of Pattaya City, Thailand, on November 19.

However, the Brit reportedly assaulted the Thai men during the trip. He then stormed out onto the road and allegedly smashed the car door, prompting the furious natives to beat him up. They left him battered along Pattaya South Third Road.

Police officers said they received a report about the injured tourist at 3:06 am local time. Volunteers arrived and gave first aid to the drunk man, who had a swollen left eye, abrasions, bleeding, and a broken nose bridge.

Paramedic Rattapon Rodson, 41, claimed he saw a Thai man dragging the holidaymaker away from a white pickup truck, adding he was unsure how the tourist was injured.

Police Lieutenant Kittipong Thalangkan, deputy chief of investigation of the Pattaya City Police Station, said the Thai drivers, Manatchai Buasripha, 30, and Jakkrit Nernsut, 28, were both mechanics who were at a nearby bar. They both themselves in to the police at 4:36 am.

The officer said: ‘Both of the suspects testified that the British man attacked them first because he was drunk from the bar. When the tourist was leaving, bar staff called a motorcycle taxi for him but he was too drunk and refused it.

‘The mechanics offered to drive him to the Jomtien area for 200 baht. During the trip, the foreigner thought he had arrived at his destination and pulled the handbrake in the middle of the road, causing the car to hit a motorcycle.

'They argued and attacked each other, and the foreigner also hit the car. The foreigner was so drunk that he was still yelling when he arrived at the police station. After the incident, he was sent to the Pattaya City Hospital, but he was still yelling and refused treatment.'

Police Lieutenant Kittipong said they could not determine where the Brit was staying as he was still speaking incoherently. The man was detained at the police station to sober up.

Just a day earlier, another British tourist high on drink and drugs was arrested for allegedly attacking a restaurant owner in the same city.

The male holidaymaker had allegedly been arguing with a street dog before barging into the closed shop and sparking a fight with the Thai owner's husband. He was treated for a head wound at a hospital before being detained at the Pattaya City Police Station.

Former fishing village Pattaya became popular with American troops on 'rest and relaxation' breaks in the 1960s when the U.S. military had bases in Thailand. In the ensuing years, the coastal resort spawned into a semi-barbarous sex-tourism hellscape.

Embarrassed officials have made progress in gentrifying the region with family tourism projects but a ravenous nightlife industry and corrupt police have hampered their efforts, with undesirables from all nations still attracted to the seedy city.
