Militants ambushed vehicles, killing at least 50 and injuring more than 20 others in Pakistan.

The attackers reportedly targeted multiple passenger-carrying vehicles in the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan, on Thursday, November 21.

The assailants attacked trucks from a convoy traveling from Parachinar to Peshawar, the provincial capital.

Most of the alleged victims were reportedly members of the Shia community.

Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, strongly condemned the attack.

He immediately directed a committee, including the Chief Secretary, regional Members of Parliament, and the Provincial Law Minister, to visit Kurram to assess the situation and provide a detailed report.

Gandapur also instructed the authorities to establish a Provincial Highways Police force to ensure road safety.

The Chief Minister pledged financial assistance and offered condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack.

He emphasised that targeting innocent civilians is both tragic and unacceptable and vowed that those responsible would face the full force of the law.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

In another incident, gunmen killed 23 passengers from trucks and buses in Musakhel, Balochistan province, on August 26, shooting them after checking their identities. The victims were reportedly from Punjab province. The assailants allegedly set fire to around 10 vehicles before fleeing.
