This is the shocking moment a jilted husband allegedly stabbed his ex-wife in a busy shopping mall in Bangkok.

The drunk suspect, 52, reportedly plunged a knife into his former spouse, 37, when she refused to take him back, on January 10.

Horrified shoppers screamed as the man brandished the weapon before stabbing his ex-wife in the side.

Dramatic footage shows store workers subduing the intoxicated husband and hauling him away from the fruits and meats section of the supermarket.

Stunned shopper Kulrisara Pensuk said: ‘I was shopping at the supermarket when there was a sudden commotion. I saw the man stabbing someone in the fruit and meat section, before employees and bystanders intervened. I was very shocked at that time.'

Police detained the suspect as the woman was rushed to the hospital. Officers have not disclosed their identities.

Police Lieutenant Thanasap Ratsameephupha, who made the arrest, said the couple were separated.

He said: ‘The motive was the breakup. The man attempted to reconcile, but the woman refused, which led to his dissatisfaction.

‘He harassed her at her workplace because he knew she was working at a supermarket in the zone where the incident occurred.

‘He was intoxicated with alcohol, and the weapon used was a kitchen knife.

‘We arrested him for public intoxication, and the victim later filed a report, so he was also charged with assault.

‘During the stabbing, the mall employees intervened, including the woman's male colleague who was injured by a stray knife swipe. He also filed a report.

‘The woman sustained injuries to her abdomen and left arm but was discharged from Kasemrad Hospital Bang Khae as her injuries were minor.'
