U.S. President Joe Biden pardoned a pair of turkeys on Monday ahead of Thanksgiving.

Biden said from the White House South Lawn, referring to the turkeys' names.

The turkeys, hatched in Minnesota this past July, will live out their lives at an agricultural interpretive center in the state.

Beginning in the mid-20th century, the president of the United States has pardoned one or two Thanksgiving turkeys each year.

Thanksgiving, a national holiday in the United States, is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November, with turkey as the most common main dish for dinner at the festival.
