STORYLINE:
China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced Tuesday that production has commenced at its Jinzhou 23-2 oilfield in the northern part of the Bohai Sea.
With an average water depth of approximately 13 meters, the Jinzhou 23-2 oil field development project is the first multi-layer heavy oil thermal recovery project offshore China.
The main production facilities include two new central processing platforms with a total of 67 development wells planned to be commissioned.
The project is expected to achieve a peak production of approximately 17,000 barrels of heavy crude oil equivalent per day by 2027.
