Philippines - December 05, 2024 Kanlaon Volcano unleashed a series of ash emissions today, with grayish plumes rising between 150 and 650 meters above its summit crater. The emissions were captured in time-lapse footage by the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory's Basler camera. Activity was recorded at intervals from 8:14 AM to 8:26 AM, 12:48 PM to 1:10 PM, 1:34 PM to 1:47 PM, and 2:21 PM to 2:37 PM. The ash drifted southwest, carried by prevailing winds, providing a stark visual of the volcano’s ongoing unrest. Authorities maintain Kanlaon at Alert Level 2, signaling moderate unrest with a potential for sudden hazardous explosions. Residents and travelers are advised to stay clear of the 4-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone.
