Los Angeles, United States - December 05, 2024 12/05/2024 01:03 pm (GMT-0800) PALMDALE, Calif. – A plane crash was reported to 911 operators near Barstow Road and East Avenue N-6 in the Antelope Valley's Palmdale area in north Los Angeles County shortly after 1 p.m. First responders found a 4-year-old Van's Aircraft RV-14A kit plane crashed into dirt and shrubs in the desert. The plane reportedly took off from the Coachella Valley at approximately 12:11 p.m. and experienced unknown trouble, resulting in a crash-landing eight miles from Palmdale Regional Airport. No serious injuries were reported. A Key News photojournalist at the scene spoke to the pilot off-camera. The unidentified pilot said the RV-14A's engine seized at an altitude of 3,000 feet MSL. The man said he tried to make it to the nearby Air Force runway at Plant 42 but chose to land sooner as the plane's altitude continued to drop. The pilot then tried to maneuver to a roadway, but the threat of power lines forced him to crash land the plane in a dirt field.
