STORYLINE:

To date, 38 countries now enjoy China's unilateral visa-free access and the maximum stay has been doubled to 30 days as of Nov. 30.

At Barcelona airport, travellers said that the newly extended policy made China a more likely destination.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Catalan): ALEIX FALGUERAS, Spanish citizen
"The less paperwork you have to do, the more chance you will choose one destination over another. I wouldn't mind going to China to discover that huge country and see what it's like."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Catalan): JAIME JOSE, Spanish citizen
"It makes travelling there more attractive and gives you more freedom. It's a good strategy to encourage more foreigners to visit China."

SOUNDBITE 3 (Catalan): IRIA MOLL, Spanish citizen
"I've always been interested in the country, which looks lovely. I'd like to go to the villages and visit the more rural and traditional part of China. I love the landscapes and the food. The fact you don't need a visa would make it more likely that I'd go."

SOUNDBITE 4 (Spanish): MATIAS MILINCHUK, Spanish citizen
"I do know about it, because I have to go to China for work. China is a country where there's much to discover in terms of tourism. And in terms of business, it's a place where one has to do business to have a more competitive market, so it seems an excellent policy to me."

SOUNDBITE 5 (Spanish): MANUEL MUNOZ, Spanish citizen
"I would love to go back to China. I like it a lot when I was there, and if I don't need a visa even better."
